The Phils may have gotten shut out by the Padres Thursday afternoon, but at least one Phillie walked away a winner. Bryce Harper struck the deal of a lifetime with a fan, swapping hats with him during the game.
Harper, who’s been sidelined since Sunday due to a platelet-rich plasma injection, spotted a hat he needed to have during today’s game. The fan, Gavin McHugh, was wearing a white snapback with a maroon Phillies logo on it. Harper evidently coveted this cap, and flagged down McHugh. He offered the young man his own cap, autographed of course, and the two were in agreement.

It was a tough day otherwise for the Phillies, as they were shutout once again by the San Diego Padres to end the series. Yu Darvish stymied the Phillies all day, as he pitched seven scoreless innings with five strikeouts, allowing five hits and no walks. Former Phillie Luis García combined with closer Taylor Rogers to complete the shutout.
The Phils were able to get some traffic on the basepaths, racking up eight hits and one walk, but just couldn’t get any runs across. The offense is sorely missing the former MVP while he’s on the shelf, but hey, at least Harper got to swap hats today.
