Phillies Prospect Daniel Brito Extends Hitting Streak to Eight Games

Phillies infield prospect Daniel Brito extended his hitting streak to eight games on Wednesday. The 23-year-old is now slashing .307/.366/.468 through 205 at-bats with AA Reading on the year.

Brito, a native of Venezuela, was recently named Double-A Northeast Player of the Week. Through six games from June 28 through July 4, he racked up seven extra-base hits en-route to winning the award.

Daniel Brito is certainly making a strong case for a AAA promotion. He has played almost exclusively at second base in Reading, especially with Bryson Stott manning shortstop.

Brito has long gotten solid grades defensively as well. He won a gold glove in 2018 after posting a fielding percentage of .988 in 116 games, the highest mark among minor league second basemen that year.
