Krzysztof Jotko (+220) vs. Sean Strickland (-270)
Weight Class: Middleweight (185 lbs)
Sean Strickland will be looking to win his third fight in a row since returning from injury. The 30 year-old won two fights in rapid succession upon his return a few months back, turning in entertaining performances in both.
Strickland first emerged victorious in a fairly through performance against Jack Marshman. “Tarzan” put on a striking masterclass, landing very quick 1-2’s. Marshman was wearing a lot of damage by the end of the fight, to say the least.
Then, Sean Strickland picked up a very solid victory against the ascending Brendan Allen. His hands were again too quick and this time, he was able to get the finish.
In addition to having fast hands, Stirckland’s shots are very concise. He doesn’t load up too much for his right hand, but it lands very straight. His right does a-lot more damage than one would think given the lack of build up.
As for Jotko, the fighter from Poland will be making his return to the Octagon for the first time in about a year. He last emerged victorious over Eryk Anders via unanimous decision.
The fight with Anders was like many of Jotko’s victories. He is great in the clinch and looks to get the fight there. He can mix in some takedowns, but he is somewhat of a master of winning “ugly” decisions.
So for this one, I do have to go with Strickland. He should have the edge in the striking department rather handily. Even if Jotko is able to fight his fight, I still see him getting out-landed rather handily.
If the fight went to the ground, it will be tough for Jotko to hold Strickland down. This could’ve been a hole, but I’m not worried about it.
Ultimately, it’s just tough not to pick Sean Strickland given his recent performances. Now at (-270) and trending up, this is a great parlay piece.
Prediction and play: Sean Strickland moneyline (-230)
