With so many traditional Thanksgiving plans changed due to COVID-19, NFL fans across the country can still be excited for some Thanksgiving day football. While the Lions and Cowboys will play their traditional afternoon games, the highly anticipated night game between the Pittsburgh Steelers and Baltimore Ravens was postponed to Sunday due to a coronavirus outbreak in the Ravens facility.
Still, we can expect close games between the Lions and Texans as well as the divisional rivalry between the Cowboys and the Washington Football Team (Redskins). While all four of these teams have had disappointing seasons, you can expect to see them putting it all out on the field. Despite both teams having a record of 3-7, Dallas and Washington are only a half game out of first place. Whoever wins that game will pass Philadelphia and move into first place in the NFC East.
Anyways, you are here for a betting analysis. Here it is.
Houston Texans at Detroit Lions (12:30 PM)
The Texans had a big win last week at home against New England. Deshaun Watson had a strong performance and he’s starting to get in a groove after the team traded star wideout Deandre Hopkins in the offseason. Detroit will be without rookie RB D’Andre Swift who is still dealing with a concussion. The Lions have lost three straight Thanksgiving day games. With Swift out, Kerryon Johnson at (+140) to score a touchdown is a solid player prop. For this game, I like Houston to come out victorious.
SPREAD: Houston -3 (106)
OVER/UNDER: U 52 (-110)
Player Props: Kerryon Johnson to score (+140)
Washington Football Team at Dallas Cowboys (4:30 PM)
This is the second matchup of the season between these two rivals. In their previous matchup, Cowboys starting QB Andy Dalton was knocked out of the game with a concussion and Washington went on to win 25-3. Things have changed since as Dalton is now back and starting while the Redskins are rolling with Alex Smith, their third starting quarterback this season. The Cowboys defense has struggled mightily this year and despite a poor performance last week, Smith had done well in his first two games. Against a weak Dallas defense, he should have a good game. However, I like Dallas for this game and the over is a solid prop. Expect this game to be high scoring.
SPREAD: Dallas -2.5 (-115)
OVER/UNDER: O 46.5 (-112)
Player Props: Alex Smith over 242.5 Passing Yards (-110)
