FedEx driver shot in Philadelphia’s Queen Village neighborhood

A FedEx driver was shot while delivering packages yesterday afternoon in Philadelphia’s Queen Village neighborhood. The shooting took place shortly before noon along South Third Street at Christian Street.

The driver, believed to be around 30 years old, was shot in the chest and leg. The victim was rushed to Thomas Jefferson University Hospital and has been listed in critical condition, according to ABC News Philadelphia.

Police spent the afternoon scanning the area for shell casings and unloading packages from the truck, some of which had bullet holes. According to the Philadelphia Police, a man was taken into custody, though he was not specifically listed as a suspect. Police have not identified a motive at this time.

FedEx later made a statement in regards to the Queen Village shooting.

“We are aware of the terrible incident involving a team member in Philadelphia this afternoon, and our thoughts are with him during this time. There is no higher priority for FedEx Ground than the safety of our team members. We are cooperating fully with the authorities as they conduct their investigation,” said a FedEx spokesperson in a statement.
