On the night before Columbus Day, anarchists in Portland swept the city targeting statues of two historic American President’s- Abraham Lincoln and Teddy Roosevelt. The statues were targeted because members of Antifa wanted to rid the city of historical monuments that honored leaders who had colonized over indigenous people. Members of the group included former Congressional Candidate Amanda Siebe who said this:
Sunday night’s events add on to months of unrest since the first riots began following the death of George Floyd in May. President Trump weighed in on the riots on Monday morning saying, “Put these animals in jail, now. The Radical Left only knows how to take advantage of very dumb “leadership” fools. This is Biden! Law & Order!”

It’s likely we’re not close to the end of these riots. For months, anarchists have caused destruction in Portland and other cities across the country while local leaders have stood by and ignored. President Trump has said that he is on stand by and is willing to send in troops when called upon. This action if enacted by the President is 100% legal under the Insurrection Act.
The Insurrection Act of 1807 allows the President to order troops to take occpuancy in areas that are under insurrection and domestic violence. This is justified if a state is unable to protect the rights of American citizens under the United States Constitution.
