LANCASTER, Pennsylvania — Violent riots that have swept across America over the past several months have reached a new city. Members of Black Lives Matter (BLM) and local citizens organized in Lancaster, PA on Sunday evening to protest the latest police shooting. Body camera footage was released on Sunday showing a 27-year old man that was fatally shot by an undisclosed police offer earlier that day.
The footage shows a police officer responding to a call-in about a domestic disturbance on the 300 block of Laurel Street in Lancaster. As the officer appears at the front door, a woman appears and quickly gets out of the way. A man comes through the doorway and immediately charges at the police officer with a knife in hand. After initially taking off, the cop turns around and shoots the man several times, killing him instantly. You can see the full body cam footage here:
Before footage was even released, groups had organized throughout the city. The Lancaster rioters chanted “No justice, no peace” as well as the popular “F**k 12”. White people apart of the protest were forced to kneel as well in solidarity in front of the mob. Many had also gathered at the city police headquarters but had not attempted to break in as of 12:00 AM ET.
The victim’s name was Ricardo Munoz who has a criminal history. It was discovered that he stabbed four different people just last year and had several previous charges.
